Drop Weight Impact Tester
An Instron 8250 Drop Weight Impact Tester that can investigate the impact characteristics of an extensive variety of materials and components over a wide range of impact velocities up to 44.6 ft/sec. The 8250 operates from of 95 psi compressed air supply and uses 120 VAC, 60HZ,15AMPS. It is equipped with weight sets ranging from 5.5lbs. (2.5kg) up to 25.0lbs. (11.3kg), and can achieve up to 100 lbs of weight on the crosshead with the use of add-on plates. Because many materials have a low tolerance to impact damage, the 8250 is fitted with Pneumatic Rebound Brake which restricts the impact to a single event with a known amount of kinetic energy.
